Begin with the surface, contamination and manufacturer care instructions. Painted panels, matte finishes, coated wheels, touchscreens, leather and fabric do not share one safe chemistry. Turtle Wax Pure Wash is cataloged for vehicle washing; P&S Xpress Interior Cleaner is cataloged for cabin surfaces. Neither name makes it suitable for every material.

Read the label for dilution, temperature, dwell time, agitation and rinsing. Work on a cool surface out of direct sun unless the maker says otherwise. Use separate towels and brushes for paint, wheels and interiors to limit cross-contamination. For a new chemical, test a hidden area and let it dry before treating the full panel.

Use the least aggressive process that addresses the soil. More product or longer dwell is not automatically better. Do not mix cleaners, especially products containing bleach, acids, ammonia or solvents. Ventilate the cabin and keep chemicals away from children. If a finish is already peeling, stained or repaired, obtain material-specific advice.
